I just can"t believe that someone in China share the same feeling as I do. Now even if all EF members don"t agree with me on this issue (SC and Taiji integration), I still won"t feel lonely any more. This clip has changed all my wrong impression about the Taiji development in China. I"ll give all my support on this. on Aug 24th, 2006, 10:10pm, moondog wrote:

i didn"t understand what he was saying about 3 months, 6 months, and 9 months,

Here are some Chinese translation. - Health is the body and combat is the soul. - If your Taiji teacher can give you simple answer then he is a good teacher. If he gave you a lot of theory, fairy tale then he is a bad teacher and fake. - Some bad teachers brought some theory into Taiji that has nothing to do with CMA. - If you talk about combat but with no tournament or free sparring experience then you are "Fighting war on paper". - Suggested training progress as the following: - Train 2 to 3 hours per day. 3 month later you should have some basic and endurance. - 6 month later you should know the forms and normal combat skill. - 9 month later you should be able to win against people who have no MA training. - 1 year later, you should be strong enough and with good skill. It"s time to test yourself in tournament - If you don"t receive this kind of progress after 1 year then you should find different teacher. - The truth can be as short as one sentence. The false can be as many as 10,000 books. - Push hands and Sanshou are twin brothers. - Throwing require higher level skill than striking. - If a guy is good in throwing then it may only take him 1 year to learn striking in order to be good in Sanshou. - If a guy is good in striking then it may take him more than 3 years to learn throwing in order to get into Sanshou. - The path between Taiji PH and SC wrestling are different but they both reach to the same destination. - Chuan + SC = high level skill. - SC Fajin + SC Tinjin = Taiji Fajin + Taiji tinjin = high level SC skill = high level Taiji skill. Although I don"t view it as strictly SC, I think throwing, realistically and for martial purposes is very important. My old teacher didn"t even explain too much advandced theory (most of us already knew it) until we practiced alot. Not because we couldn"t understand, but because all it does sometimes is cause confusion. The old theories are there to be decoded in a very real sense, but it seems that nowdays people take things too literally. Many newcomers, and westeners alike just don"t think the way the old mystics did. And those who can decode them, still have a hard time explaining to the skeptics. If people could only see that Taiji is not magical, or invincible, it has very real scientific explanation to nearly everything.
